About the Seminar
This interactive seminar not only provides parents with opportunities to raise questions about mathematics that their children learn in school but also focuses on various approaches to solving challenging mathematical problems. Find out the five key competencies required in solving challenging mathematics problems which is a significant part of the school assessment and the PSLE. Discover some simple strategies that parents can use with their children at home to support the learning in school.

About the Speaker
Dr Yeap Ban Har is an established name in teacher professional development, having presented keynote lectures at international conferences and written for academic publications. He has also been invited to give seminars at various universities around the world. He is a well-known name in the area of lesson study and is Singapore’s country specialist for the APEC Lesson Study Project. An experienced educator, Ban Har spent ten years at the National Institute of Education (Singapore), where he taught a range of teacher education courses, including graduate courses, and was involved in several funded research projects. He continues to teach courses and supervise practicums at tertiary institutions such as the National Institute of Education (Singapore), SIM University (Singapore), and Wheelock College (United States of America) in adjunct and associate positions. Ban Har also sits on the advisory board of the Professional Advisory Council of NTUC First Campus, a major provider of early childhood education in Singapore, and several schools in Singapore and Asia. He is also a consultant for World Bank projects.
